Prevention of Drug Abuse & HIV AIDS 

ALL ISLAND ESSAY CONTEST 
Two Topics:One on Drug Abuse & the other on HIV/AIDS. 
Conducted in all three languages. First three place winners in each language group under each topic is awarded cash prizes of Rs 5000/=,Rs 3000/= &Rs 2000/= respectively in addition to beautiful trophies and certificates at a fitting ceremony 
All together 18 cash prizes. Publicity is given in print media. Duration 03 months.
This ais an annual program, conducted continuously for the past 14 years.
Total cost is approx:Rs 175,000/= 
 
TARGET GROUP 
Open to all students between the age of 15 to 19 years.  
OBJECTIVES 
To create much needed Awareness among all school children with the aim of achieving prevention and demand reduction in respect of drug abuse also to make them aware of the killer disease “AIDS”  

KALUTARA PROJECT 
A full day seminar on Drug Abuse & HIV/AIDS conducted continuously for the past 14 years.  
Comprising of presentations by Experts in the respective areas namely, STD Unit of the General Hospital, Police Narcotic Bureau, Customs Narcotic Control Unit and The Sri Lanka Anti Narcotics Association (SLANA).POSTERS competition and ORATORY contest.  
Cash prizes of Rs 20,000/=awarded to first five place winners in each contest. Snacks and lunch are provided to all participants (325). Certificates are awarded to
all .
Total Cost Approx:Rs 150,000/= 
TARGET GROUP 
Students from the O/L and A/L classes.  
A maximum of 10 students from each school-from 25 to 30 schools in the Kalutara District.
A teacher from each school too. 


 
OBJECTIVES 
Participating students from each school to carry the message to their school mates, family and the community thus spreading the knowledge gained through this seminar on the ill effects from Drug Abuse and the HIV/AIDS menac.  
Also aimed at creating awareness among our future leaders.  


WORLD AIDS DAY 
A seminar is conducted every year on 1st December to coincide with the Worlds AIDS day. 
Programme comprising of an impressive presentation by an expert from the STD Unit (Sexually Transmitted Diseases Unit) of the General Hospital, Colombo and an Oratory contest.  
First five place winners are awarded with cash prizes to the value of Rs 10,000/=. Participants are awarded with certificates. They are also provided with stationery and snacks. Total estimated cost is approximately Rs 75,000/=  




TARGET GROUP 
250 students from the A/L & O/L classes from 25 schools in the Colombo and Kalutara Districts (10 from each school)  

OBJECTIVES 
To create much needed awareness among the younger generation . For participants to carry the message to all those who are near and dear to them.  

OTHER PROJECTS 
Projects are also conducted at various parts of the country on requests made by Clubs and or other social organizations.

Creating awareness among our younger generation thus creating a society which will take proper Precautionery measures to curb the spread of drug abuse and HIV/AIDS
