The current membership as at 1st October 2006, stands at 27 members. A full list of the members at present appear on our web site……………………………we sadly miss many of our Senior and dedicated Lions who are no more. Their keen, energetic & devoted service over the years will continue to be admired and appreciated.

In the inaugural year, under Charter President Lion Somasiri Devendra, the Club jointly with the Sri Lanka Ports Authority organized some very worthy projects for the inmates of the Victoria Home for the Incurables and the Grace Perera Home. Our Lion Ladies have always been in the forefront of our activities assisting the Lions in Service Projects while organizing their own programs.

The Club was actively involved in several “FANTASY LAND” carnivals organized by the District. While exclusively manning and handling the gate collections there, it had its own stall each year. The Club had and continue to have several ongoing projects. It also adapted a needy school, namely Sumaga Vidyalaya in Dehiwela and organized several projects there. Presently a continuous project is being carried out at Jayanthi Pre-school at Mangalyaramaya.

At the beginning and for a number of years thereafter, to find the much needed funds a number of Fund Raisers were carried out-

1. “Circus Pacifia: in 1982 (for full 10 days)
2. Drama “Pathalay Soldaduwo” in 1986
3. “Noeline a Celebration” in 1987
4. “Fashion Model of the Year” in 1988

The Club has been conducting several Fund Raising projects over the years and continues to do so. Several Health Camps have been organized and conducted. Donation of spectacles to the visually handicapped and wheel chair tyres & tubes to the disabled are annual projects of the club.

The Lions Club of Dehiwela North sponsored the Leo Club of Dehiwela North in 1982/83 and that Club while winning many International and District Awards, won the International Award in1996/1997 as one of the best Leo Clubs in the world. The Leo Club of the University of Moratuwa was also sponsored in ………and it has won several District Awards.

From time to time many of our Lions have held key positions in the District Cabinet and continue to do so. Their services over the years have been deeply appreciated and recognized by the International Association of Lions Clubs, Lions Clubs International Foundation and the District. Three of our members have won the Lion of the Year Awards.

Our Charter Celebrations have always been memorable occasions to gloss over our achievements and to meet our fellow Lions on the Movement.

A web site has been opened stating the objectives of the Club, the content &structure with a Home Page And detailing New Events, Projects, etc. Profile of each member will also be contained therein.
